“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

It is essential that everyone should understand and respond to the message of the Gospel. It is God’s Good News for mankind. It is a matter of Life or Death!

Mankind at large is in rebellion against God , the very Creator of the world and of every form of life. Man has turned his back upon his Maker and in his folly believes that he knows better. How wrong he is!; but “God is not mocked“. (Galatians 6:7.) A day of reckoning is coming, “for God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness”, by His Son the Lord Jesus Christ. ( Acts 17:31 ). Where will you stand in that day?

How did things go so wrong?

It all went wrong in the Garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve acted in disobedience to God’s explicit command. They chose to listen instead to Satan in the guise of a serpent. By submitting to Satan, instead of the Lord God their Creator, they became sinners, subject to death, both physical and spiritual. This condition of sin and death has been passed down through every subsequent generation of mankind. “ For, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned “ (Romans 5:12.) That means we are all sinners.

How does God react to Sin?

Firstly we must understand that sin is absolutely abhorrent to a Holy God. His eyes are too pure to look on evil and He cannot bear man’s unrighteousness.(Habakkuk 1:13-16). A just God MUST and WILL judge and punish sinners. He cannot and will not ignore our sinfulness. “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). That death is not annihilation, but eternal exposure to God’s burning anger against sin in the Lake of Fire. (Revelation 20:11-15).

Can we escape the judgement of God ?

There is no escape from God’s judgement if we remain in our sins! However, the GOOD NEWS is, that God has provided the one and only way of escape.

In His great compassion and love for His creatures, He has provided the remedy for sin, at great cost to Himself. “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have Everlasting Life.” ( John 3:16 )

What is God’s remedy for sin?

God’s holy standard, from the very first sin, demanded that an animal sacrifice had to be made. “Without shedding of blood is no remission” (forgiveness). As sins multiplied, so did the sacrifices, but these could not remove the stain of sin forever. So God Himself provided the perfect remedy,by sending His only begotten Son into this evil world, where He lived a sinless, perfect life and willingly submitted Himself to the death of the cross. His death was the ultimate and perfect sacrifice for sin and fully satisfies all God’s demands. In Him, all those who believe “ have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace “ (Ephesians 1:7). Not only did the Saviour die; He was buried and rose again, by which He conquered the power of death and the grave. He ascended back to the throne of His Father in heaven until He fulfils His promise “ I will come again and receive you unto myself “. (John 14:3)

What must we do to be saved?

This is the Gospel of God and it demands our response. If you do nothing you will not be saved. You must believe and accept that the message is true, confess to God that you are an undeserving sinner and put your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ who died to save you. “He that believes on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life ; but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:36)

God’s gracious offer of Salvation will not always be available. Time is fleeting. We cannot afford to put off our decision to accept the Lord Jesus as our Saviour. Do not delay! “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.” (Acts 16:31)

“Now is the accepted time; ….Now is the Day of Salvation “ (2 Corinthians 6:2).
